This was a school project where we had to design a fashion collection inspired by a musical artist. I had chosen the rap icon Nicki Minaj. I took inspiration from her music, her personal style, and the supposed 2020 theme for the MET Gala.

The first look is inspired by her song Majesty featuring Eminem and Labrinth. I thought about redesigning her costume during her live performance at the 2018 Video Music Awards in New York City.

The second look is inspired by her feature on Madonna's song Bitch, I'm Madonna. Compared to everyone else in the music video, Minaj's outfit was very lackluster. Plus, she was only featured through a television screen. So I thought about redesigning her outfit for that video.



The last two looks are inspired by the originally scheduled theme for the Met Gala 2020. The theme was “About Time: Fashion and Duration". I thought about what would Minaj wear if she were to go to the gala. Something that references her past music such as Pound the Alarm or Chun-Li, but was also provoking enough for a Queen. It is the Met Gala after all.
