My Role

Creative Director, Fashion Designer, Illustrator, Seamster, Technical Designer, Graphic Designer, Concept Designer

This is my final grad collection from John Casablancas Institute's CORE Fashion Design program. It was inspired by the juxtaposition of the celebrity persona - the tension between what is and is not real. Often times, celebrities go through a push and pull between their persona, when they try to break free from their initial image. Examples can be Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, and Christina Aguilera. The muse for this collection was Poppy, a celebrity who also went through the same fight with the perfect constructed image and their authentic self. Poppy is an artist who can be described as a "deranged mix of bubblegum pop and screeching heavy metal." Which is exactly the aesthetic of this collection, juxtaposing the sweet and hard, tulle, leather, teddies, and lots of spikes.
