My Role

Creative Director, Fashion Designer, Illustrator, Graphic Designer, Tech Pack Designer

For this school project, we were tasked with designing a collection that can be mix-and-matched, similar to how retailers would purchase clothing separates that were related to increase the likelihood of customers buying multiple items. We were asked to come up with the entire brand concept and collection - including logo, target market, design, fabric and material sourcing, costing, line sheet, technical fashion flats, and illustrations

The brand Arcenxiel would be my future fashion label, which I had used for this project to get a head start. It would be a neo-bohemian brand that would create artisanal made-to-order clothing that can be unisex if wanted. The idea is to also promote slow fashion, a return to appreciation of craftsmanship.

For this collection in particular, I wanted it to feature macrame - a crafting technique that uses knots to create textiles that was popular in the '60s and '70s. I appreciate the patience needed in the art and its beauty. I thought that it would make a good contrast with its softness against the rougher denim, which is the other main textile in this collection. The last textile is satin, an elegant and sensual fabric that would drape well against the human body.

The Minstrel Shorts were made and photographed in this denim-themed editorial for En Vie Magazine.

Below is an example of the costing sheet I created to get an estimate for the garment prices. However, please take a look at the Lookbook above for more details such as the brand, target market, moodboard, flats, illustrations, as well as seeing the outfit styling and pairings. The names of each garment is meant to reflect an idea of artists, creatives, and nomads - the persona of the brand. There are twelve outfits in total.
